Lorenzo Cimino

Graduating in trombone from the Music Conservatoire “N.Paganini”, he continued to hone his talent with Pierre Thibaud, Mauro Maur and Antoine Curè.

Lorenzo Cimino is a teacher in middle school and in music college. He has lectured at the University of Pisa, the Bologna Music Conservatoire and the Boccherini Institute, Lucca.

He has made several recordings for Rai and was the winner in audition for the Fermo Festival Orchestra.

He has had a very active concert career, founding and working for 10 years in Ensemble Giacinto Scelsi, premiering several new trumpet works dedicated to him, including by:   Giorgio Gaslini, Luciano Chailly, Pietro Grossi, Marco Betta , Piero Luigi Zangelmi, Claudio Josè Boncompagni, Fernando Mencherini, Gaetano Giani Luporini, Giovanni Sollima, Giuseppe Bruno, Paola Ciarlantini and Andrea Nicoli.

Performers he has worked with included: Lester Bowie, Giorgio Gaslini, Massimo Urbani, Tony Scott, Fabrizio Puglisi, Guglielmo Pagnozzi, Giuseppe Bruno, Ferruccio Bartoletti, Francesco Cusa, Mauro Maur, Antoine Curè, Andrea Imparato.

Lorenzo Cimino has performed in several festivals and shows including: Anfiteatro Jazz (Lucca); Bologna Sogna (Bologna); Serate Musicali (Milano); in Germany Unna, Ludenscheid and Bochum for the review Neue Kammermusik; Romaeuropa; Trieste Contemporanea, Goethe Institute; Teatro Manzoni (Pistoia); Teatro delle Erbe (Milano); Teatro del Giglio (Lucca); Teatro Comunale (Noto); Teatro Comunale (Firenze); Teatro Verdi (Pisa), Teatro Civico (La Spezia), Sconfinando (Sarzana), Teatro Pacini (Pescia), Cattedrale (Cefalù), Sirmione per La Grande Estate, Estate Spezzina, Pescara Teatro S.Andrea, Leonardi V idea Genoa, Sarzana Teatro Impavidi, San Miniato (Pi) Fiera del Libro, Sestri Levante Festival Andersen, Piacenza Palazzo Farnese, Quimper (Festival de Cuivre), Bari Cathedral, Sulmona Midnight Concerts, La Spezia Notte Bianca.

He was President of the Musicafutura Association and Vice President of the Spezia Jazz Association.

On the 100th anniversary of Dadaism he wrote the music for and performed “WiTz”, an original project celebrating 100 years since the foundation of Dadaism in Zurich.

In 2016 he founded the group Blue Freak. 

From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the Liguria Region Culture Commission and from 2008 to 2015 Secretary General of the La Spezia Chamber of Labour. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of La Spezia; of the Polo Universitario Marconi (Promostudi) of La Spezia and a member of the Port Committee.

He has his own YouTube educational channel.

With his students’ trumpet ensemble “School of Brass”, he participated in the inauguration of Piazza Verdi in La Spezia, and the Andersen Sestri Levante Festival.
