Paolo Carlini

Biography

Paolo Carlini, after obtaining a diplome with highest honours at Conservatorio in Ferrara in the class of Vittorio Gavioli, pursued his studies with Marco Costantini and Klaus Thunemann. Since 1987, he is the principal bassoonist of the Orchestra della Toscana in Florence and has held this position with the orchestras of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Orchestra of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Orchestra Sinfonica Rai in Rome, I Solisti Veneti of Claudio Scimone and the Filarmonica della Scala under the conductors Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniel Harding, Esa Pekka Salonen, Rafael F.De Burgos, Eliauh Inbal, Daniele Gatti, Gianandrea Noseda, Neville Marriner, Yeffrey Tate,Eduardo Mata, Dimitrij Kitaenko, Emmanuel Krivine, Christopher Hogwood. In chamber music he has worked with soloists as Julian Rachlin, Janine Jansen, Pavel Vernikov, Massimo Quarta, Alain Meunier, Bruno Canino, Alessandro Specchi, Antony Pay, Hansjorg Schellenberger, Pietro De Maria, Franco Petracchi, and has given concerts at the Carnegie Hall in New York, Mozarteum in Salzburg, the KKL Luzern, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Conservatorio in Tel Aviv, Concert Hall in Tokyo, Hong-Kong and Festivals in Lubljiana, Stresa, Munich, Nizza, Rein Vocal am Mittelhrein. He has always been interested in contemporay music. Works for solo bassoon have been dedicated to him by many important composers like Azio Corghi, Ivan Fedele, Ennio Morricone, Luis de Pablo, Luis Bacalov, Giorgio Gaslini, Ludovico Einaudi, Marco Tutino, Marcello Panni, Carlo Boccadoro, Nicola Sani, Marco Betta, Claudio Ambrosini, Alessandro Solbiati, Enrico Pieranunzi, Carlo Galante, Giancarlo Cardini, Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Marco Taralli, Andrea Battistoni, Fabrizio De Rossi Re, Matteo D'Amico, Nicola Campogrande. As a soloist he recorded for Sony Classical, CPO, Chandos, Naxos, Tactus, Stradivarius, EMA Vinci Records, Amadeus, Fone’. Paolo is regularly invited to give master classes at the CNSMD in Lyon, New York University, Conservatorio Superior in Sevilla, Haute Ecole de Musique in Ginevra, Rachmaninov Conservatory in Rostov, Kazan State Conservatory, Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne, Ural Music College in Yekaterinburg. He is bassoon teacher at Conservatorio P.Mascagni in Livorno
