Music was the foundation on which Clara Wieck’s relationship with her husband, Robert Schumann, was born and developed. Clara’s letters and diaries, allow us to reconstruct the evolution of that unique, unbreakable and controversial bond. In this performance, Clara’s reflections and music chase each other, recounting the complexity of their relationship; everything seems to find a mysterious synthesis and an unfathomable evolutionary path: on the one hand Clara’s success in Life, on the other her substantial posthumous oblivion, as well as her husband’s posthumous success. The relationship between Clara and Robert perhaps represents that mysterious dream space, within which Robert’s works and the remarkable legacy he left in the history of music came to life. Pianist Costanza Principe, brings back from semi-oblivion compositions of the young Clara; actress Sandra Ceccarelli will play Clara’s voice.

THE INTERPRETERS
Born into a family of musicians in 1993, Costanza Principe graduated in 2010 from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan under the guidance of Vincenzo Balzani with top marks, honors, and distinction. In 2015, she obtained a Bachelor of Music degree with distinction, and in 2017, a Master of Music degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2020, she graduated with top marks from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, where she studied with Benedetto Lupo since 2017. A winner of prizes in international piano competitions, including the Lilian Davies Prize from the Royal Academy of Music in London, second prize at the Beethoven Society of Europe Intercollegiate Senior Competition (United Kingdom), the International Piano Competition in Lagny-sur-Marne (France), and the International Competition “Premio Pecar” in Gorizia. In addition to her recital activities, Costanza performs in various chamber ensembles and as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Filarmonica Toscanini, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra, Turkish National Youth Orchestra, and the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra.
Her debut album, entirely dedicated to the music of Robert Schumann, was released in April 2022 under the Piano Classics label.
Sandra Ceccarelli made her debut at the age of 16 in Giuseppe Bertolucci’s film “Segreti Segreti.” In 2001, she was chosen by Ermanno Olmi for “Il Mestiere delle Armi.” In the same year, she worked with Cristina Comencini in “Il più bel Giorno della mia Vita,” a highly successful film for which she won the Silver Ribbon Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her breakthrough and most important recognitions came from Giuseppe Piccioni’s film “Luce dei miei occhi,” for which she won the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival and received nominations for the David di Donatello and the Golden Globe. She collaborated with Piccioni again in 2004 for “La vita che vorrei,” another critically acclaimed and commercially successful film, earning her nominations for the David di Donatello and the European Film Award for Best Leading Actress. In the following years, Sandra Ceccarelli took on roles in foreign productions such as “Libertas” directed by Veljko Bulajić, “Klimt” by Chilean director Raul Ruiz, and “Il Destino di un Principe” by Robert Dornhelm.
In recent years, she has appeared in films such as “Gli Sdraiati” by Francesca Archibugi and “L’ombra del Giorno” by G. Piccioni, to name a few, as well as in various television series including “L’ultimo Papa Re,” “Non Uccidere,” and “Blanca.”
